oatmeal question

Anybody have any suggestions for getting extra protein (besides the milk) into oatmeal for a toddler's breakfast?

Can he eat peanut butter or almond butter? Or banana/pumpkin/applesauce mashed and mixed in. There is a blog I keep hearing about with great oatmeal ideas-it's called Kath Eats Real Food. Maybe you can get some ideas there. Let me know how you make out.

if you're toddler isn't allergic to nuts, you can swirl in some almond butter (or peanut butter). it's super tasty.

you could also do a savory version with cheese or meat...i'm just about to do this on my blog, so check it out in a week or so. it sounds weird, but you might also try mashed adzuki beans.

while i'm not big on giving my kids soy because of the estrogen ish, you could also stir in some silken tofu from time to time.

Reeni and Cate - thanks! Good ideas! I think peanut butter is going to be the answer - he's not allergic to nuts thankfully. He loves azuki beans in pastries, so I'm sure he'd love it in oatmeal, too, so that's another possibility. Reeni, I'll check out that blog you mentioned - thanks! And Cate, I'm looking forward to the savory oatmeal you will blog about. The Japanese oatmeal package has a picture of oatmeal with mushrooms in it, so I guess there are myriad possibilities for using it!
