seasons

With all of our hanging out with friends and getting ready for our big trans-Pacific move, I don't have tons of time to wax very philosophical, but these autumnal kaki (persimmon) on my kitchen windowsill are reminding me of the season we are finishing and the new one about to begin.

For some reason, the kaki this year just seem to taste sweeter than usual.

Hi Abigail,

hope you and the family are well.

Like those persimmon. I haven't had one yet this season-something to look forward to.

When's D (for 'departure')-day?

how beautiful. i love persimmons, but they don't grow here in ny. or at least not to my knowledge. when i visit the west coast in fall, i gorge on them.

we all cannot wait to hear about your new adventure. a BIG change and big ocean to cross. good luck.

What a beautiful picture! Your posts are bringing back so many memories and emotions from our move back to the US. Such a difficult time!

TK - Less than a week now! Unbelievable! Glad you are well.

Cate - We didn't have persimmon in Florida, either, but I'm glad you can get them on the West coast. Thanks always for the encouragement and inspiring words!

FM - I'm already starting to tear up saying goodbye to friends! You'll have to give me some pointers on how you re-acculturated in the States.

So, the countdown has started. All the best for the move and hope to be seeing more recipes soon.
I bought some persimoms last week from the farmers' market but I was the only one to eat them!!

Ivy, yes, I'm with you! I'm the only one who really eats them around here. :)
